Shootout, Duels and everything else

Sorry I've taken so long to update about what has gone on at Daytona so far, I've been really busy, and getting help from Mac Productions isn't as helpful as i had hoped it was.



Anyway, The Budweiser shootout was great. Its to bad that Dale Earnhardt Jr, couldn't have won from the pole. I don't think that is done to much. But a job well done to Kurt Busch and his team at Penske Racing for winning the thing.



The Duels, where in my opinion just two Budweiser Shootouts because all three events had a field of 24 cars.



Now i didn't watch the first duel race, only because i forgot they were on, so i really can't comment on that other then that Kurt Busch won that as well. Now who said that Penske Racing didn't have a good Superspeedway program. Though they have something to prove at the 500 don't they.



The Second duel race was ok, i didn't really get into like i would had it been the 500, but oh well. Jeff Burton won the second one, which i was happy about. Burton happen to be one of my many favorite drivers.

Joey Logano spun and hit the inside retaining wall heading towards turn one, and damaged the left front side of his car. Then Denny Hamlin, spun on the back stretch, with according to Mike Joy, Larry McRenyolds, and Darrel Waltrip, help from his other teammate Kyle Busch.

Apperently Casey Mears in the No. 13 GEICO Toyota blew his engine near the start of the race.

Michael Waltrip and Brian Keselowski raced their way into the 500. Mikey will start 8th, and Brain will start 12th, three spots ahead of his brother Brad. I'm not sure who raced their way from the first race.

Dale Jr won the pole during qulifiying but lost the chance to start there because he wrecked his car in practice and has to go to a back up car.

Well the first race of the 2010 Nascar Sprint Cup Series is over and you all know what that means.... Its time for the Goose Race Awards.

ARCA announces new 105-inch wheelbase chassis

Automobile Racing Club of America (ARCA) announced today that they approved the 105-inch wheelbase chassis for competition in 19 of the 21 races for 2010. The 105-inch wheelbase chassis are currently used in the NASCAR Nationwide and NASCAR Camping World East and West Series.

The 105-inch wheelbase chassis however will not be run at Daytona Int'l Speedway and Talladega Superspeedway. ARCA's current 110 inch wheelbase cars will also be raced along with the 105-inch wheelbase chassis at the 19 selected races.

Along with the approval of the 105-inch wheelbase, there will be a rules package change that will create parity between the two cars. ARCA's base rules package for 3400 pound, steel-bodied stock cars with corresponding auto manufacturer engine and body configuration will remain in place.

This approval coincides with Nascar's announced integrating the Car of Tomorrow (COT) for the Nationwide Series in 2011, and the gradual exit of the present-day cars, which as said above are 105-inch wheelbase chassis, from the Series.

"Since the inception of our series in 1953, we've kept an open line of communication with NASCAR and others to monitor industry trends, At the time of the evolution of the NASCAR Sprint Cup COT technology, ARCA team owners represented a market for NASCAR team owners to sell the race cars they were cycling out of inventory. We're positioned to accommodate a similar situation with the NASCAR Nationwide team owners. We've invested a great deal of research and interaction into this move with several groups, in particular our ARCA team owners, and we feel this is the right step with the proper timing for everyone involved."
