Rolex 24 Hours Of Daytona

The Rolex 24 hours of Daytona was awsome, the only draw back to me was that they didn't have any coverage of the race during the early morning, which most years seems to be when most of the action seems to happen. Not that what is shown doesn't have any action, but most of the machanical problems teams seem to have always seem to happen during the early morning period.

I also hate how, when they resume the broadcast of the race the Speed Channel personalities spend the first few minutes explaining what happen during the early morning hours, which the viewers couldn't see. What they should do is have a little pre show or something before they resume the broadcast of the race, to get everyone up to date on what had happen.

The only other problem i had was with MRN Radio, i listen to some of their broadcast in the evening of the start of the race Via Grand Am's website, and one of their broadcasters said that they would be starting again at 7am. Well i went out to my computer at 7am to listen and found out that MRN's feed wouldn't be airing until 10am. Now i don't know if they meant that MRN would be start airing at 7am, but wouldn't be broadcasted through Grand Am's website until 10 or what. But if MRN's race feed really did start at 10am instead of 7am, then i'm mad that the MRN people would lie to their viewers.

Anyway, i'm glad that Chip Ganassi Racing with Felix Sabates won, with Scott Pruett, Memo Rojas, Joey Hand, and Graham Rahal behind the wheel of the #01 TELMEX/Target BMW/Riley. And the teams sister car, the #02 Target/TELMEX BMW/Riley to finsih second with Juan Pablo Montoya, Jaime " Big Mac" McMurray, Scott Dixion and Dario Franchitti behind the wheel, i can't think of any other way for a team to start off the season.

I think Chip said it beast when in victory lane he said "We finished first three years and finshed second three years"

EGR to sign McMurray, and Sterling Marlin to Retire?

According to Autosport.com, Earnhardt Ganassi Racing will be announcing that they will be signing Jamie McMurray for the 2010 Nascar Sprint Cup Season.

McMurray, who is 33 years old and has spent the last four year driving a Roush/Fenway Racing Ford, will be driving the EGR's No 1 Chevy that has been piloted by Martin Truex Jr. Truex has signed with Micheal Waltrip Racing to drive the No 56 NAPA Auto Parts Toyota Camry.

If these rumors are true then it will mean a reunion of sorts for EGR Co-Owner Chip Ganassi and McMurray.

McMurray made his Nascar Sprint Cup debut in October of 2002, as a substitute driver for the injured Sterling Marlin, in Chip Ganassi's No 40 Dodge. McMurray also got his first Sprint Cup win, in his second start in the car which was at Charlotte.

In 2004, McMurray would statistically have his best season, by finishing 11th in the championship and scoring an impressive 23 top-ten finishes while driving Chip Ganassi Racing's No 42 Dodge. He would leave the team one season later, being replaced by teammate Casey Mears.

Juan Pablo Montoya, who would go on to replace Casey Mears in the No. 42, will claim Ganassi's best ever Sprint Cup Series Championship Chase result, this season. Sterling Marlin holds Ganassi's best pre-Chase championship standings finish of third in Chip Ganassi Racing's inaugural season.


Racintoday.com is also reporting that former Chip Ganassi Racing driver, Sterling Marlin will hang up his driving gloves following the 2009 season finale at Homestead-Miami Speedway.

Marlin, who is 52 years old, and has raced for over 30 of those 52 years; compiling 10 wins, 216 top 10's and 11 poles.

“Will I miss it? Yeah, in some ways, But in some ways I’ll kinda be glad when it’s over. The sport has changed. It’s not much fun any more.”

Sterling gained international fame by wining back to back Daytona 500's, driving the No 4 Kodak Chevy of Morgan McClure Motorsports, in 1994 and 1995. He now spends much of his time tending the farm, that when he was younger, he wanted to get away from.

And as his career in the bright lights, of Nascar's top Series start to fade away, the one-time terror of Daytona has no regrets and no complaints.

Are rumors just rumors or is Dale Jr a big fat liar

Earlier this season when Nascar announced that they were going to launch a Car Of Tomorrow (COT) for the Nationwide Series, starting for four races next year and running full time in 2011, Dale Earnhardt Jr owner of JR Motorsports said that the team didn't have enough money to make the switch from old to new.

Well if that is so, then why is ESPN.com reporting that JR Motorsports is close to signing Danica Patrick to drive in the Nascar Nationwide Series for two years?

Now if the rumor is true, then it would make Dale Jr a liar because, Danica Patrick is looking for a 300,000 a race. And If it cost near a million dollars to switch from the Nationwide Car of now to the Nationwide Car Of Tomorrow, then How can he do it. (that is a rough estimate of the cost, that was mentioned by either Earnhardt or another owner)

Now i know most will say, well Junior's Cup owner Rick Hendrick will help with the cost, but if that was the case then why didn't help Junior keep the number five Nationwide team running the whole season, since Hendrick has shown that he has the money. The reason is because there was no sponsorship to run the five the whole Nationwide season.

The only sponsor that has been mentioned is GoDaddy.com, who sponsors Danica in the IRL, where she has just signed a Three year deal with Andretti Green Racing. And I Doubt That they can sponsor her 12 Nationwide races and her IRL team, i mean the most races i've ever seen GoDaddy.com on a JR Motorsports Chevy where about four.

And it also presents a problem with the GoDaddy.com Commercials because Nascar has a policy that censors sexually suggestive ads on cars and television broadcasts, and Godaddy.com's advertising is typically contains sexually suggestive material. And i doubt Godaddy.com would want to lose their Danica Patrick sexually suggestive advertising.

Racing in both Nascar Nationwide and the IRL would also would hurt her modeling career, since i doubt she would have that much free time.

Sprint Cup Driver and former IRL driver Juan Pablo Montoya said this past weekend that Danica shouldn't jump back and forth between the two different racing series and only concentrate on one series.

It was also stated that she would make either $50,000 and $100,000 a race, which other Nationwide Series driver make, instead of the 300,00 or 1,000,000 a race she was reported to have wanted. It was also stated that she isn't in it for the money, she was in it for the experience.

Well, i fine that hard to believe since in the same article it was reported that people have admitted that the potential financial windfall might be worth the grind of logistics and the learning curve of stock car racing. Now i don't know about everyone else but that sounds like she's being told to do it for the money instead of for experience.

I know of a few ways that Danica could get experience in a stock car that doesn't involve milking cash strapped owners.

I wonder how long Danica Watch, will take to turn into Danica Gate.
